Drop & Share
Send any file directly to another browser — peer-to-peer over WebRTC, coordinated with QR codes.
Drop a file, show the QR code to the receiving device, scan their answer code back. The file streams directly between you — it never touches a server.
Frequently asked questions
Everything you might wonder about Drop & Share.
Does my file go through your servers?
No. The two browsers establish a direct WebRTC data channel and the file streams between them. The QR codes only carry the connection setup (SDP and ICE candidates) — they never contain the file itself.
Do I need an account?
No. Drop & Share is fully anonymous and works without signing in. Both devices just need to be running this page in a modern browser.
Why two QR codes?
WebRTC needs both sides to exchange a description of how to reach each other. The sender shows the first code, the receiver scans it and shows back a second code with their own description. Once both codes have been scanned, the channel opens and the file transfers.
It says “Couldn't establish a peer-to-peer link.” What happened?
Some networks (corporate firewalls, mobile carriers behind symmetric NAT) block direct WebRTC connections. Try a different network — connecting both devices to the same Wi-Fi almost always works.
