Linux amd64 (64-bit) (Debian-based) and macOS are supported today.
Windows support is coming soon.
Set up the Desktop CLI/App
Make sureffmpegis installed (viaapt install ffmpegon Debian/Ubuntu orbrew install ffmpegon Mac): runffmpeg -version(version 6.x.x is validated on Linux and macOS).
Log in using the commandbenefic loginusing the same email from the first step. Enter the code, and you should see “You've successfully been signed in.” message after completing the steps
Point Benefic to your media directory and run it.
Currently, only movies are supported.
File names must follow the format:Movie Name (YYYY)— e.g.,Sweet Smell of Success (1957). Only mp4 and mkv files are supported at the moment.
Start Benefic with:benefic run -d ~/Movies/
Go back tohttps://benefic.com/and you should see your movies load on the homepage within 1–5 seconds and replace “Movies will appear here”.
Click on your favorite movie, and you’ll see a small modal that says “loading...” — give it a few seconds and your movie should load!
